Before reserving a charter, we urge you to study this policy attentively. When you reserve a charter with OpenKnowledgeCorridor, you are expressing consent to these terms of refund.
Standard Cancellation and Refund Schedule
More than 72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Complete refund minus processing charges
Processing Time: 5-7 business days
Processing Fee: €50 for transactions on credit cards
Conditions: Must be submitted via written request through email or phone communication
24-72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Half of the complete cost of the charter
Processing Time: 7-10 business days
Processing Fee: €25 subtracted from the refund amount
Conditions: A valid explanation is needed; subject to administrative fees
Less than 24 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: No reimbursement possible
Exception: Consideration may be given in emergency circumstances
Alternative: Company discretion may allow credit for a charter
Conditions: Proof required for emergency circumstances
Weather-Related Cancellations
Our Weather Guarantee
Our top concern is your safety. If our licensed captain determines weather conditions to be perilous for yacht operations, we present several alternatives:
- Full Refund: If no rescheduling is feasible, you get a 100% refund
- Reschedule: Shift your charter to an upcoming available date without additional expenses
- Charter Credit: Get credit applicable for one year from the original charter date
Weather Assessment Process
The factors we consider for our weather assessment encompass:
- Evaluating wind speed and direction
- Considering wave heights and sea conditions
- Visibility and precipitation outlooks
- Advisories and alerts from Coast Guard
- Professional assessment from the captain regarding safety
Decision Timeline: Decisions about weather cancellations are made at most 4 hours ahead of the scheduled departure time.
Medical Emergency Refunds
Emergency Situations
We are aware that medical emergencies can occur unexpectedly. The following instances might qualify for special refund consideration:
- An unforeseen illness or injury necessitating hospital admission
- Passing away of an immediate family member
- Deployment or urgent recall in a military context
- A summons for jury duty or subpoena for court
- Natural disasters impacting travel arrangements
Required Documentation
For emergency refund claims, please submit:
- A medical statement or documentation from hospital
- A death certificate, if relevant
- Official directives from military
- Legal notice for court appearance or jury service
- Travel warnings or emergency proclamations
Processing: Upon receiving legitimate documents, emergency refunds are processed within 3-5 business days.
Operational Cancellations
Technical Difficulties
Should the vessel assigned to you experience insurmountable technical issues:
- Alternate Vessel: We will aim to provide an equivalent alternative
- Complete Refund: If no appropriate alternative is available
- Partial Refund: If there is a discretionary difference in pricing with the alternative
- Recompense: Additional compensation could be offered for the inconvenience
Unavailability of Crew
In the uncommon instance that a certified crew is not available:
- An alternative crew will be arranged when viable
- Full refund if the charter is unable to go ahead
- Rescheduling without any extra fees
Refund Processing
Payment Method
Reimbursements are returned through the initial payment method that was used for the booking:
- Credit Cards: Refund period is 5-7 business days
- Bank Transfers: Refund period is 7-10 business days
- Cash/Cheque: 3-5 business days are required for refunds
Incurred Fees
Credit Card Handling
A fee of €50 applies for cancellations done over 72 hours prior
Bank Transfer Handling
For refunds via bank transfer, a €25 fee applies
International Transactions
Additional charges may be levied on international dealings
Charter Credits
Occasions for Credit Issuance
In lieu of refunds, charter credits may be suggested under certain conditions:
- Cancellations within less than 24 hours' notice
- Cancellations related to weather
- Voluntary asks to postpone the charter
- Any disruptions to operational services
Credit Conditions
- Validity Period: Valid for 12 months from the date of issuance
- Non-transferable: Credits cannot be transferred to other individuals
- Value: Corresponds to the full value of the charter (excludes processing fees)
- Utilization: Credit may be applied towards any available future charter
- Non-extension: There is no extension past the 12-month expiration
Partial Service Reimbursements
Interruptions in Service
If your charter is discontinued or shortened due to conditions within our control:
- Refund will be prorated for the part of unutilised time
- Credit equal in value to the future charter
- Free additional services or enhancements
Interruptions Caused by Guests
If a charter concludes prematurely because of guest behavior or infringement of safety rules:
- The unused portion will not be refunded
- Full payment is still owed
- Charges may be imposed depending on the circumstances
Resolution of Disputes
If there is a disagreement regarding a decision on refunds, you have the option to:
- Ask for a review by the management
- Provide more documents or proof
- Contact consumer rights organizations for help
- Seek legal action as permitted by the law

Step 3: Examination and Processing
We will confirm reception of your request within a day, scrutinize it in light of the stated policy, communicate our decision in two days, and process valid refunds as per the specified timeframes.
Important Considerations
- Refund claims have to be stated in writing
- Refunds will be managed in €, irrespective of the original currency used for payment
- We highly advise obtaining travel insurance
- This policy may be modified, subject to a 30-day announcement
- Refunds are subjected to the laws and taxations applicable
